Junior Club

The junior section of the Club began in January 1997 when Louise Swainson, a Senior Club player, could not find anywhere locally for her daughter to play. Demand for places has grown and now the club has over 100 children attending.

Weekly training for years 5/6 & 7 takes place on Friday at Wakefield Girls High School sports hall, Margaret Street, Wakefield WF1 2QX from 6-7 and 7-8pm .

Training for years 8/9 and 10/11 and a second 5/6 group takes place at Wakefield City High Community Sports Centre, Arncliffe Road, Wakefield WF1 4SF. Years 8/9 train on Monday from either 7-8 or 8-9pm while Years 5/6 train on Wednesday from 6-7pm and Years 10/11 are from 7-8pm. The groups will have trials at the end of the season. This means there will be two training groups based on the needs of the player. Our focus is on player performance as well as development.

Years 5/6 play High 5 against other junior club teams. The U12, U14 and U16 teams will play in the West Yorkshire Junior League on a Sunday morning. It will give players the opportunity to gain experience through competitive matches. It is hoped that training and playing for the junior club will give youngsters a good grounding in the game so that they are able to move through to the senior club.

2010-11 marks our 14th season as a junior club. At the End of Season Presentation in June all players were praised for their considerable contribution to the club. Listed below are the players/squads who received awards from our guest presenter and Senior Club Coach, Jo Walker.
